Dundee United bid to sign Peterhead striker Rory McAllister

Dundee United are keen to give Peterhead's prolific striker Rory McAllister his long awaited chance of full time football and they have been given permission to speak to the player by Jim McInally, manager of the Aberdeenshire club.

The 29-year-old former Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Brechin City forward has been at Balmoor for the past five years, where he has scored over 125 goals. However no Premiership or Championship club had looked to take him on board until now.

United, who were relegated from the Premiership last season, contacted Peterhead about McAllister and have been given the go-ahead to discuss the proposed move with the attacker, who also works as a plumber, although a transfer fee has still to be agreed.

It is believed that McInally, who said earlier this year that he could not understand why a Premiership or Championship club had not gone for the player, would not stand in McAllister’s way if a deal suited all parties.
