Dundee United and West Brom agree fee for Scott Allan

DUNDEE UNITED last night agreed a deal worth in the region of £400,000 to take midfielder Scott Allan to West Brom. It is now up to the 20-year-old to decide whether he wants a move to the Premiership or hold out for the Old Firm to make a move.

The Tannadice youngster has been one of the most in- demand youngsters in the country after making his debut for Peter Houston’s side at the start of the season. Allan attracted rave reviews and was also watched by a number of top clubs, including Manchester United, while playing for Scotland under-21s. Rangers and Celtic are interested in the midfielder but have yet to make an offer, with United due a payment under the terms of Fifa’s compensation scheme.

United have reached a deal with West Brom and will allow Allan to speak to the Midlands club, with personal terms likely to be discussed in the next fortnight before the transfer window opens.

The Tannadice club already know they will also lose defender Garry Kenneth in the summer after he stated his desire to move on.

English side Charlton are keen on the Scotland international and Reading manager Brian McDermott is also interested after attending United’s recent match with Celtic.

Tannadice manager Houston admitted he would not be surprised if other out-of-contract stars such as Paul Dixon and Scott Robertson also seek pastures new at the end of the season.

He said: “Garry Kenneth has already told us he wants to go and I wouldn’t be surprised if Paul Dixon and Scott Robertson want to do the same. But we will wait and see what happens.”
