Dundee 3 - 0 Livingston: Dundee victory warms up title race

THE First Division may have a title race worthy of the name after all after Dundee’s impressive win over Livingston.

Goals from Ryan Conroy, Neil McGregor and Nicky Riley saw off Livi – who had Mark Fotheringham sent off in the second half – and moved them to within four points of leaders Ross County.

After a rather tentative start Dundee took the lead after 19 minutes, cutting through Livi with great precision. A slick manoeuvre along the opposition 18-yard line, involving first Steven Milne then Gavin Rae, saw the latter slip a pass to his left-hand side for Conroy, who, in the absence of any defenders, simply steadied himself before sending a low drive beyond goalkeeper Andrew McNeil.

Livingston should have equalised on 65 minutes but were guilty of a glaring miss. Bobby Barr cut down the right-hand side before picking out Kenny Deuchar but he somehow blazed over the bar from ten yards.

They were left to rue that miss. There was an element of good fortune to Dundee’s second as Jake Hyde’s header from a Conroy free-kick hit off McGregor and spun into the net.

Fotheringham, charged up against his former club, was then ordered off after a second yellow card for a bad challenge on Rae.

Substitute Riley added a third goal with nine minutes remaining, flicking a Stephen O’Donnell corner past McNeil with his head.
