Dumbarton 3 - 1 Morton: Colin Nish scores on debut

Dumbarton’s new recruit Colin Nish made one and scored one on his debut as the Sons picked up their first league win of the season by defeating visitors Morton 3-1.

Nish picked out Mitchel Megginson with a back post cross on 18 minutes and the former Aberdeen striker kept calm after his initial header hit the bar to nod in the rebound from four yards out.

Team-mate Scott Smith was not so composed 30 seconds later as he swiped the feet from Dougie Imrie in the box and Imrie netted the resultant spot-kick with ease.

Former Dumbarton player Tony Wallace was denied by Jamie Ewings in the home goal and Derek Gaston turned over a fine drive from Smith before the hosts took the lead three minutes from the break.

Scott Taggart was yards shot with a passback and Nish showed his experience as he drew Gaston from his line and rolled the ball into the far corner.

In the second half, Reece Hands came close to a leveller with a fine low drive that Ewings finger-tipped away before the points were secured when Smith swung over a cross from the left and substitute Steven McDougall glanced home the perfect header.
