Draw made for Scottish Communities League Cup

FIRST Minister Alex Salmond and Scottish Football League Chief Executive David Longmuir today launched the new Scottish Communities League Cup and made the draw for the first round of the competition

First Division champions Dunfermline will travel to Third Division outfit Annan Athletic, while runners-up Raith Rovers face a trip to Montrose.

The cup campaign will be funded by money seized from criminals, as part of part of the package of measures building on the commitments made at the football summit in March.

Elsewhere in the draw, Dundee, one of the favourites for the First Division this season, will travel to Dumbarton.

Paul Hartley will face his first test in management when his Alloa Athletic side play host to Morton.

At the launch, Mr Salmond said: "The partnership between the Scottish Government and the Scottish Football League will promote all that's good about our national game and put local football clubs back at the heart of Scotland's communities.

"The SFL and its clubs already carry out invaluable work across the country and we want to build on these partnerships to encourage positive change in attitudes in our local communities."

All of the matches will be played on Saturday 30 July.
