Double delight for Alva Academy in Forth Valley cup finals

Congratulations to Alva Academy on a great double in the Forth Valley Schools' FA annual cup competitions.

The under-15s won the Stenhousemuir Cup and the under-14s claimed the East Stirlingshire Cup.

Both games were staged at Ochilview, courtesy of Stenhousemuir and East Stirlingshire football clubs, and unlike the league play-off finals which were threatened by snow, the games were played in warm sunshine.

Alva fell behind to Dunblane in the early minutes of the under-15 event, but the side who recently won the league championship play-off secured the double when they roared back to take a 4-1 half-time lead.

Dunblane battled manfully in the second half and scored a second goal but Alva were always in command and deservedly earned the win.

In the second game, it was a match between two close rivals in Alva and Wallace High School. The pair have contested a number of finals in the last two seasons.

On this occasion there was no close contest as Alva Academy romped to a 6-1 victory.

Wallace have contested three of the four local finals available to them in the last two seasons, but it have been runners-up every time.
