Division two roundup: Ten-man Arbroath hold on to take the points, three goals and top the table

WINS for Brechin, Forfar and QoS as Stranraer and Stenny played out a 1-1 draw.

Alloa Athletic 2, Arbroath 3

A KEVIN Cawley double put Alloa in control and Martin Grehan was denied a third by the crossbar.

But Derek Holmes pulled a goal back late in the first half and Paul Currie then equalised before Michael Travis put Arbroath in front. Danny Rennie was sent off for Arbroath but they held on for three points.

Ayr United 2, Forfar Athletic 3

Ayr made the perfect start when David Sinclair shot them ahead but Forfar hit back and Chris Templeman was just too high with a header.

Iain Campbell equalised with a penalty but Sinclair put Ayr back in front in 52 minutes. Gavin Swankie then put Forfar back level before Martyn Fotheringham settled it.

Brechin City 2, East Fife 1

Scott Dalziel set up the opener for Andy Jackson after only 11 minutes and, two minutes later, Jackson grabbed his second – his fifth of the season – with a left-foot shot.

Gareth Wardlaw pulled a goal back for East Fife with a header with 12 minutes left but Brechin kept the three points.

Queen of the South 1, Albion Rovers 0

Derek Lyle put Queen of the South ahead midway through the first half with a right-foot shot from Nicky Clark’s cross.

Albion Rovers lost Jim Gilmartin to a red card and spent most of the second half under pressure. Substitute Gavin Reilly came close but Lyle’s goal proved sufficient.

Stranraer 1, Stenhousemuir 1

Stenhousemuir took a 19th-minute lead through a great finish from Ross McMillan.

But Ryan Borris, booked in the first half, equalised in the 58th minute from Robert Love’s pass. Neither team did enough to merit three points with neither goalkeeper seriously tested in the final half-hour.
