Division two roundup: Queen of the South 1 - 0 Alloa Athletic

League leaders Queen of the South earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Alloa Athletic at Palmerston Park.

Gavin Reilly forced a fine save from Alloa keeper Scott Bain in the 33rd minute but Alloa’s resistance lasted 67 minutes before Nicky Clark slipped the ball past Bain.

Forfar Athletic 4, Albion Rovers 2

A hat-trick for Ross Campbell helped Forfar Athletic to a comfortable 4-2 success.

Campbell added a third in 54 minutes before Chris Templeman’s penalty gave the visitors a four-goal lead. Mark McGuigan and David Crawford each pulled one back for Albion.

Stenhousemuir 2, Arbroath 2

John Gemmell fired the hosts ahead in the 46th minute only for Lee Sibanda to equalise before Paul Currie put Arbroath ahead in the 90th minute.

However, Kevin McKinlay’s injury time effort salvaged a point for Stenhousemuir.

Stranraer 2, East Fife 6

East Fife recorded a 6-2 success at Stranraer, their season’s first win.

Bobby Barr, Paul McManus and Gareth Wardlaw put the visitors three up before Ryan Borris pulled one back. After the break Jamie Pollock twice, Wardlaw again and Craig Malcolm added one for Stranraer.

Ayr 3, Brechin City 0

AYR didn’t seem troubled by Austin McCann being dismissed in the 15th minute for handball, with Michael Moffat clipping home Ayr’s opener in the 26th minute.

Marc Twaddle’s header doubled the home side’s advantage and Davie Sinclair added a third.
