Dees focus on Jambos after Spiders shock

Dundee manager Barry Smith has told his players they cannot afford to dwell too long on their shock Scottish 
Communities League Cup exit at the hands of Queen’s Park.

The Tayside club became the fourth Clydesdale Bank 
Premier League scalp of the second round as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat against the 
Irn-Bru Third Division side.

But with a tough visit to Hearts looming when they 
return to league business this weekend against Hearts on Sunday, Smith insists Dundee must move on quickly from the cup disappointment at Hampden.

He said: “We just have to dust ourselves down and get on with it. We’ve got a big game on Sunday and we must move on quickly and make sure that we’re ready for Sunday’s game.”

Dundee enjoyed the best 
possible start when Steven Milne opened the scoring after just five minutes.

But the tie turned in Queen’s Park’s favour when Neil McGregor saw red for a challenge on Jamie Longworth, who netted from the resultant penalty.

Sean Burns then grabbed the winner to ensure the hosts would progress to the next round.

In last night’s other ties, 
Inverness beat Arbroath 2-0 and St Mirren thumped Ayr United 5-1.
