Danny Lennon ‘delighted’ to extend St Mirren contract

St Mirren manager Danny Lennon has signed a two-year contract extension, the Clydesdale Bank Premier League club have announced.

Lennon joined the Buddies from Cowdenbeath in June 2010 and, after leading them to 11th place in the SPL last term, is now committed to the club until June 2014.

The 41-year-old was linked with a return to Hibernian, who are seeking a new manager following the departure of Colin Calderwood, but dismissed the reports as speculation.

St Mirren currently sit fifth in the table.

The Buddies have attracted admirers for their positive style of play under Lennon, who has ambitions to achieve more than merely SPL survival.

Lennon said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have agreed a two-year extension to my current contract as manager of St Mirren Football Club.

“I believe we’ve started an exciting journey to try and take the club into the top six (at the SPL split).

“I’m excited to be a manager of a group of players that are such dedicated professionals who are working so hard to make their collective vision and their ambitions a reality.”
