Dalkeith’s rise biggest surprise

Another terrific South Division season is coming to an exciting conclusion and, with only one team winning promotion, only five points separate the top five clubs.

The biggest surprise of the season has been the rise of Dalkeith. After too many seasons in the doldrums, wily manager Willie Pearson has a side worth talking about.

The club have a set-up worthy of the Premier League and Pearson and Co would welcome a fresh challenge. They sit two points clear at the top of the league and will be confident of taking all three points at home to West Calder tomorrow.

Tranent, one of the most consistent sides in the division in recent years, currently sit two points behind Dalkeith. They have been in with a shout of the title in all of the past three seasons and are desperate to finally make the step up this term. Tranent will be looking to maintain their challenge away to Stoneyburn tomorrow.

Arguably, though, the match of the day sees Falkirk JFC at home to Fauldhouse. Both teams are only a couple of points behind leaders Dalkeith, who will be hoping for a draw between the two to boost their own hopes.

Elsewhere, Haddington host Edinburgh, Harthill have Blackburn as their guests, Pumpherston play Dunbar and Whitburn are at Spartans.
