MICHAEL Duffy has all but sealed his switch to Celtic after a fee was agreed between the Hoops and Derry City for the 20-year-old winger.
Duffy - who scored 15 goals for the Candystripes last season - had two trial spells with Celtic and scored twice in a development match against Newcastle United.
Although the player himself ruled out a third trial with the Hoops, it appears the midfielder, who can also operate as a striker, is set to join Celtic after the club appeared to have cooled their interest in the Northern Ireland Under-21 international.
Derry City chief Sean Barrett said: “We have agreed a deal with Celtic for Michael Duffy.
“We thought it was dead in the water, then Celtic contacted at us to say they wanted to sign him.
“I believe Michael is discussing personal terms.”
Duffy signed a new deal with Derry in October 2014, keeping him at the Brandywell Stadium until 2016.
