CELTIC have been linked with a move for Willem II defender Mitchell Dijks.
The 22-year-old left back, who can also play at centre half, is believed to be top of Ronny Deila’s shopping list, casting Emilio Izaguirre’s future into doubt.
Deila has made no secret of his desire to improve his options at left back, and Dijks - who at 6ft 4in is a commanding figure - fits the bill.
The former Ajax defender, who won the Eredivisie title with the Amsterdam giants, now plays for Tilburg-based Willem II, and had a loan spell with Heerenveen during the 2013/14 season.
Capped at Under-16, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level for the Netherlands, Dijks has just 12 months left on his contract with Jurgen Streppel’s side, and is priced at £900,000.
Dijks came up through Ajax’s renowned academy, and played against Celtic when the Hoops crashed to a 4-0 friendly defeat in Amsterdam in July 2012.
With Jason Denayer returning to Manchester City and Virgil van Dijk a target for several top clubs, Dijks could provide Celtic with options at the back as well as having the potential to be developed and sold on in the future for a profit.
