Celtic and Rangers are poised to do battle for Australian teen sensation Riley McGree.

The midfielder, a Hoops target earlier this year, instead joined Club Brugge during the summer from Adelaide United.

McGree, 19, has yet to break into the Belgian league leaders’ first team this season.

However Celtic scouts are still monitoring the Aussie Under-23 international’s progress, while Gers have now joined the race for his signature.

And sources in Belgium believe Brugge will let McGree leave in January or next summer if the price is right - despite tying him to a contract until 2021.

Dubbed the brightest prospect in Australian football, the teenager made 21 appearances and scored two goals for A-League outfit Adelaide last season.

He was called into the Socceroos squad in March, but still awaits his first senior cap.
