Montrose extended their lead at the top of League Two to two points despite a 0-0 draw at eighth-placed Clyde.

The struggling home side had the better of a wretched opening period, but after the restart, the league leaders nearly made the breakthrough in the 64th minute when Graham Webster headed just over the bar. Clyde’s Andy Munro then headed wide

Second-placed Stirling Albion spurned an opportunity to reclaim top spot as they fell to a 1-0 loss at Berwick Rangers for whom goalkeeper Robby McCrorie produced several impressive saves. Berwick took the lead in the eighth minute as Michael McKenna fired home. Within five minutes Stirling would have levelled but for a stunning double save from the outstanding McCrorie. Robert Wilson’s header struck the woodwork, denying Berwick a second goal, but they held on to consign Stirling to their first away defeat of the league campaign.

Peterhead revived their promotion hopes and moved to third with a 3-0 victory over ten-man Edinburgh City in which Rory McAllister netted a double.

Shortly after half-time, City’s Chris McKee was dismissed for bringing down McAllister in the box and the Peterhead striker converted the spot-kick. McAllister added a second in the 72nd minute after which Jordon Brown tucked home a third

Elgin City dropped to fourth following a 2-0 reverse at Annan Athletic. Aidan Smith slotted home Annan’s opener in the fifth minute and Peter Watson struck a second in the 57 minutes.
