Hibernian are in talks to sign Birmingham City’s Andrew Shinnie.
Easter Road manager Neil Lennon confirmed that he had spoken to the midfielder over a potential move to the Edinburgh club.
Shinnie, 27, began his career with Rangers but, along with his brother Graeme, who now plays for Aberdeen, established himself with Inverness Caledonian Thistle where he made over 50 appearances.
He moved to St Andrew’s in 2013 and signed a contract extension in 2015 though has since fallen out of favour and spent a spell on loan at Rotherham United earlier this year.
“We’ve spoke to the club and we’ve spoken to the player,” Lennon told BBC Scotland. “There’s no guarantee that we’ll get anything done but we have made our interest known.
“We are hoping that we can get something done in the next day or two.
He continued: “He’s a quality player. I have always liked himm liked him at Inverness, he was a fine footballer. He’s gone down and had a very good time at Birmingham.
“He’s available and when a player becomes available and it’s within our budget, then we have got to look at it.”
