Clean sheet buoys Daz as he looks to keep gloves

DARREN JAMIESON admitted he got nervous in the tunnel on Tuesday night – but the young Livingston goalkeeper went on to impress against Hamilton with a clean sheet in his first ever Division One start.

Jamieson, 22, had only made
single appearances in the Third and Second Divisions previously, but grabbed his opportunity midweek after manager Richie Burke handed him the number one shirt.

He is desperate to see more first team action ahead of
tomorrow’s visit of Morton.

He said: “I think they were just seeing how I could handle playing in the First Division.

The lead-up was nerve wracking. In the warm up I wasn’t too bad, even getting back into the changing room I was fine,
but as soon as you get in the tunnel the nerves and pressure build.

“I felt as if I was under a lot of pressure just to do well in the game. Once I got five minutes in I felt good and I was playing quite well I think.

“It’s the crowd that’s so
different. Getting clapped onto the pitch is stuff I’m not used
to and people are there to judge.”

Livi went down to ten men after just 27 minutes but battled to earn a point and Jamieson said the team are hoping to build on that ahead of this weekend’s match against the Greenock side.

He said: “Obviously the red card marred the game a wee bit and made it harder for us to get a result, but if you had said 0-0 at half time we’d have taken it in the circumstances.

“A lot of the boys are just coming back into fitness and have only played a few reserve games.

“I’ve no idea whether I’ll
be involved again this season, but of course, I just want to
play.

“It’s a dream come true being a footballer, but now that I’m here, I just want to be playing every week.”

He added: “We’re trying to build on that clean sheet this week, working on trying to build it from the back more rather than being too direct.

“It’ll take time getting used to the way Richie and Mark want is to play, so the next three games will be good for us from that point of view.”
