City won’t let Tevez go ‘on the cheap’

Manchester City insist they will not allow Carlos Tevez to leave on the cheap despite his present absence from the club.

With the impasse over Tevez’s future still unresolved, it is understood the striker’s long-time advisor Kia Joorabchian has spoken with AC Milan about a possible move for the player.

The Serie A giants, who are already through to the Champions League knockout round, are one of the few clubs in the world who could afford Tevez.

City manager Roberto Mancini has twice stated publicly that the player has no future with the club. But City have privately pointed out there is no way the fee for Tevez will be slashed purely to get rid of him.

In the summer, a deal of around €44 million (£38 million), including add-ons, was agreed between City and Tevez’s former club Corinthians, only for it to collapse due to the Brazilian outfit’s inability to come up with a payment schedule that suited the City hierarchy.
