The former Hearts striker tapped a corner home to open the scoring on nine minutes but Alloa’s Mitch Megginson restored parity on 32 minutes when he converted an Iain Flannigan cut-back.

The hosts were back in front within a minute when Nade headed in a Steven Saunders cross. The big Frenchman completed his hat-trick two minutes into the second half with a drive from the edge of the box past Scott Gallacher.

Dumbarton’s Jon Routledge was sent off for a lunge on Connor McManus.

Fourth-placed Raith Rovers took a major step towards securing a play-off place when they defeated Queen of South 2-0 at Stark’s Park to open up a seven-point gap on the Dumfries side.

Rovers were forced into an early change when Iain Davidson was stretchered off following a clash of heads with Dale Hilson and the Raith man was on his way to hospital before his side edged themselves in front on 32 minutes.

Mark Stewart grabbed the goal when he turned the ball in from close range and the lead was doubled three minutes from the break when Chris Higgins handled in the box and James Craigen tucked the penalty past Robbie
Thomson.

The hosts came close to adding a third with a Ryan Hardie effort that needed a fine stop from Thomson. Queen’s best attempt, which came from Gary Oliver late on, was comfortably dealt with by Raith keeper Kevin Cuthbert.
