Charlie Mulgrew set for surprising U-turn at Celtic

Speaking with The Scottish Sun, Mulgrew revealed that he’d already cleaned out his locker at Lennoxtown, the club’s training base, and had said goodbye to staff and team-mates.
Mulgrew spent four years with the club earlier in his career before returning from Aberdeen in 2010. He’s remained with Celtic since but looked all but certain to leave this summer as his contract expired.

Hide AdHowever, Rodgers sought out the player to ask if he’d be happy remaining for at least another campaign.
Mulgrew stressed that a deal is far from being finalised, but as long as he’s happy with the terms he would be willing to stay with the club.
Mulgrew told The Sun: “Listen, in a lot of ways everything still is up in the air. It’s not like I’ve agreed anything with Celtic.
“But to have Brendan Rodgers on the phone saying he likes me as a player and wants me to stay is just what I want to hear. That was always going to be the biggest thing. If he came in and decided he didn’t want to keep me then that would have been it.
“But he’s come to me and said he wants me to stay so I’m hugely encouraged by that.
“I’m just hopeful I can get things sorted out with the club because I really want to be part of what’s happening at Celtic.”
