Changing room chat: Who’s the fastest player in the SFL?

THE quickest player in the Scottish Football League is set to be unearthed next week. In the build-up to the Ramsdens Cup final between Hamilton and Falkirk a week on Sunday, the tournament sponsors will stage the ‘Dash for Cash’ final at Livingston’s Braidwood Motors Stadium next Wednesday afternoon.

It will feature the five fastest players from the clubs who contested the Ramsdens Cup. The finalists made it through after the staging of individual club heats in which the players were filmed and timed over a 60m sprint. The five finalists are: Grant Prenderleith (Stenhousemuir); Ally Graham (Dumbarton); Craig Gunn (Elgin); Craig Smith (Queen’s Park) and Jon Robertson (Cowdenbeath).

The winning player’s club will receive £2500 for youth development, while the winning player will win £500 and each of the other finalists will receive £100.

Renowned speed merchants and SFL veterans Bobby Mann and Mark Yardley are understood to be disappointed that this venture was only introduced after they had vacated the senior ranks.
