MORTON have hit out at the “mindless neds” who almost put the club’s Ramsdens Cup tie against Queen of the South in doubt. Tuesday’s match, which Queens won 2-1 after extra-time, went ahead as scheduled at Cappielow but only after contractors had worked through the day to repair vandalism to the Greenock ground that caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.

“Cappielow has been broken into three times in the last ten days by mindless neds who have targeted the Club and carried out wanton vandalism,” said a club spokesperson.
