Celtic suffered their joint highest European aggregate defeat as they crashed to a 6-1 two-legged loss against the Poles.

And Zyro – who netted the opener at Murrayfield – believes Ronny Deila’s side handed them the win on a plate.

He said: “We didn’t expect to dominate Celtic, but we knew how we wanted to play it. And they played exactly how we wanted.

“They had a lot of the ball in the middle of the pitch, which we knew they would get, but they did nothing with it. We defended so well, they had absolutely no chance of scoring. And that’s all down to our manager. He had a plan for the match and it worked out perfectly for us.

“To beat such a renowned team as Celtic 6-1 is special. But we proved we are a fantastic team.

“The Scots tried to dispirit us. They were very verbal and tried to make us afraid. But we ignored them and focused on ourselves. The manager made us mentally strong – he told us to believe in ourselves even after the home draw with the Irish team [St Patrick’s].”

And team-mate Jakub Kosecki was shocked at just how easily Legia won in Edinburgh.

He said: “We expected a Scottish backlash, but it never happened. In fact, in the last 30 minutes of the match, we had almost full control. To win 2-0 at a place like this was just fantastic.”

Ondrej Duda, the Legia midfielder, admitted he couldn’t believe what happened in the return leg. He said: “If someone had said to me before the tie that we would beat Celtic 6-1, I would have said they were dreaming. The experts never gave us a chance and yet we destroyed them.”
