Brizuela on failed Celtic switch

Chivaas winger Isaac Brizuela believes the high price tags slapped on players by club owners is preventing more players from leaving Mexico for European leagues. Speaking to ESPN’s Ahora o Nunca programme, the 29-year-old said he was urged not to join Celtic in 2014 despite the prospect of Champions League football and a hefty sell-on clause for his club. He added: “They said that in Mexico a team could pay double [what Celtic offered]. Mexican players are overvalued by directors.” (ESPN)

Rangers in SPFL legal threat

Rangers have declared they will consider “all legal options” open to them in order to challenge the SPFL’s controversial resolution vote and to ensure the 2019-20 Premiership season is played to a finish on the pitch. The Ibrox club have condemned the passing of the SPFL board’s proposal to end the campaign, describing it as “deeply flawed”. (The Scotsman)

Ross County chairman Roy MacGregor believes clubs will take a huge hit in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic, warning that the Staggies could be ordered to play home games in front of just 500 people, and Celtic with just 10,000 in Parkhead. The Dingwall club supremo added: “We don’t feel we can sell season tickets. We probably won’t be able to do hospitality next year – which is a big item for us. We won’t be able to do conferencing. Joe Ledley has shared a video of him scoring a goal for Celtic against Rangers, sparking excitement among Hoops fans that the Welshman is eyeing a second spell in Scotland. Neilson: Make it a 14-team top-flight

Robbie Neilson doesn't want to lead Dundee United up to the Premiership and pass Hearts on the way down. He believes a 14-team league is the obvious solution. Neilson knows his former club belong in the top flight given their stature but unless league reconstruction is agreed, they will be demoted as the league's bottom team. He said: “Probably 14 is your limit. Once you start going higher than that, it affects TV revenue because the bigger clubs aren't playing each other as often.
