In just a month’s time, a host of players in the SPFL will be out of contract. It is something which has gone under the radar somewhat recently with debate, discussions and a bit of anger surrounding the current season and whether it can be finished.
At the end of May, however, there will be a lot of players unemployed and facing an uncertain future. Some will likely be picked up by clubs who are financially stable but many will have to play a waiting game when the future becomes clearer.

Hutton on Stewart
Alan Hutton reckons Rangers forward Greg Stewart needs to play regularly.
The ex-Aberdeen ace has been linked with a move away from Ibrox despite signing in the summer.
He has been a bit-part player, making 24 appearances but just six starts.
Hutton told Football Insider: “I definitely think he can look at his time at Ibrox so far and hold his head up high, know he’s done well and played his part. The thing is he seems to me a player who needs to play regularly to get that level.
“It’s very difficult, if you ask a player, to come in and out, maybe have two games here then you’re out for four or five, back in for one – you can’t just switch it on."
Ligue 1 to call champions and teams relegated
Paris Saint-Germain are set to be crowned Ligue 1 champions.
The French top flight is likely to be decided by the points-per-game system which has been used in Scotland.
In addition, two clubs will be relegated from Ligue 1.
Rhodes will take pay cut for Celtic move
Jordan Rhodes is willing to take a pay cut to join Celtic, according to a report.
The Sheffield Wednesday striker was linked with a switch to Parkhead in January.
Currently on a reported £40,000-a-week, Rhodes has a fine goalscoring record in England, netting more than 200 goals.
He has 14 Scotland caps.
McCoist on title award
Ally McCoist thinks there will be an asterisk against Celtic's title win if they are awarded the title without the full compliment of games.
The Rangers legend think it is unfair on Celtic and the likes of Dundee United and Liverpool not being given the chance to win it on the field when it wasn't their fault they have been put in this position.
He said: “So there'll be a question mark against it. That's not Liverpool's fault, it's not Celtic's fault, it's not Dundee United's fault. They want the opportunity to try and win it. If it's not going to happen and it's given to them, there will be an asterisk against it.”
