Scottish Football LIVE: EPL giants favourites to land Celtic striker, Hearts reject takeover approach, ex-Hibs ace wanted by Premiership trio, Rangers key man a target of Bielsa

All the latest news, transfer speculation and more from around the SPFL

It is only a few days until June. In another timeline, some players may have been looking forward to Euro 2020 or the Copa America, others would have been looking forward to some downtime during the off season before a return to pre-season training for European qualifiers or Betfred Cup group stage matches.

Instead, the 2020/21 campaign is still up in the air. The actual league structure won’t be confirmed until next month as reconstruction is discussed once more. Despite the uncertainty, transfer moves are beginning to happen with Rangers securing the services of Ianis Hagi.

Forward advised to make Celtic move

Jordan Ibe has been advised to move to Celtic.

Ex-England striker Kevin Phillips believes the former Liverpool forward who is set to leave Bournemouth on a free despite once costing £16m needs to be playing week in, week out.

He told Football Insider: "He might go to Celtic, play week in, week out and winning football matches. It is amazing when you play for a side that is winning games you do not get as many injuries or pick up as many strains because you want to play every week.

“That could be a great move for him. Go and resurrect his career and show everyone what a top player he is.”

Hutton expects Goldson interest

Ex-Rangers defender Alan Hutton expects there to be a lot of interest in Ibrox centre-back Connor Goldson.

The Englishman has been linked with a move to Leeds United, but Hutton has “heard rumours” that others are sniffing about.

He said: “On the whole he’s been a very good signing for Rangers so it doesn’t surprise me big teams like Leeds are looking at him. He’s obviously had good appearances in Europe that a lot of clubs will be watching. I don’t think it’s just Leeds that are interested, I’ve heard rumours of other clubs.”

League reconstruction doubts

Hearts chief Ann Budge’s plans for league reconstruction are in doubt.

According to the Scottish Sun, the proposals are unlikely to get enough support in any of the four divisions.

Both Elgin City and Stenhousemuir have expressed their doubts about the plans.

Ianis Hagi was forthright in his desire to make the move to Rangers on a permanent deal.

Speaking to the Heart and Hand podcast in an exclusive interview after completing a £3.3m deal from Genk, the Romanian said it was “everything” about the club which convinced him Ibrox was the place for his future.

He said: “Starting from the history of the club to the gaffer, coaching staff, the mentality the club has. I just feel that everything suits me”
