Celtic target Janko ‘can leave for free’

TRABZONSPOR striker Marc Janko has claimed he will leave the club on a free transfer this summer, potentially paving the way for a move to Celtic.

Janko, captain of the Austrian national side, was linked with a move to Celtic Park in January but a £1.5 million price tag nixed any possible deal. Janko said at the time he would “walk to Glasgow” to sign for Neil Lennon’s side.

Janko said: “I now have a commitment from the club that I will be a free transfer... now I’m basically open to anything.” (Express)

Rangers, Celtic fans could face Glasgow Cup ban

THE final of next season’s Glasgow Cup under-17s competition may be played behind closed doors, according to the Record, after the 2013 and 2014 finals between Rangers and Celtic were marred by trouble.

Seats were damaged and flares set off during Monday’s game at Celtic Park, which Celtic won 1-0. Last year’s clash at Firhill also saw smoke bombs set off by fans.

Glasgow FA committee member Malky Mackay Sr. said: “We need to look at the situation for future finals due to the behaviour we have seen.” (Record)

Celtic’s Samaras gets Olympiakos offer

GEORGIOS Samaras has reportedly been offered a two-year contract with Greek champions Olympiakos.

The 29-year-old forward is out of contract at Celtic Park this summer, and has been linked with clubs across Europe including Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid.

The Greek international is believed to be open to a move home, having spent six years at Celtic following a spell at Manchester City. (Record)

Dundee United kids ‘can push up league’, says Robertson

FULL-BACK Andrew Robertson has claimed that Dundee United’s young stars can challenge near the top of next season’s SPFL Premiership, if the core of the side can “stick together”.

Robertson said: “If we had another season all together, we would really push up the league. We have had a few dips, but that is always going to happen.

“Money can have a say. Maybe the club couldn’t turn down an offer for a certain player, but the ideal solution would be that we all stick together.” (Various)

Hearts to contest Hamill complaint

HEARTS are set to formally contest an SFA complaint issued to captain Jamie Hamill for knocking over Ross County manager Derek Adams.

The 27-year-old was offered a four-match ban by compliance officer Vincent Lunny after knocking Adams to the floor while celebrating his opening goal in the 2-0 win over County last month.

Hearts manager Gary Locke said: “We will see what else comes out of [the hearing], but hopefully it won’t be too much.” (Scotsman)

Kilmarnock cleared over forgery claims

THE SPFL have confirmed that they will take no further action against Kilmarnock over claims that club staff falsified player signatures on league documents.

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: “The SPFL has concluded that it can identify no document which included a falsified player signature or to have been otherwise irregularly completed by the club.

“The SPFL intends to take no further action on this complaint.” (Various)
