Everton keen on Forrest, Robertson

PREMIER League high-fliers Everton are reportedly eyeing up summer moves for Celtic winger James Forrest and Dundee United full-back Andrew Robertson.

The Toffees, currently fifth in the Premier League table, are said to be keen on Forrest as a replacement for on-loan Barcelona midfielder Gerard Deulofeu.

Robertson was linked with Everton earlier this year, after manager Roberto Martinez was spotted at Tannadice in January to run the rule over United’s young stars. (Record)

Ibrox stars “can’t believe their luck” - Kyle

FORMER Rangers striker Kevin Kyle has hit out at the club’s former bosses, and claimed that many of the players in the current Ibrox squad are making more than they could at any other club in the country.

In an interview with the Mail, Kyle said: “You are thinking to yourself: ‘Third division football and they are going to be earning £350,000 to £400,000 a year?’

“If you are going to be really, really honest and brutal about it, you take a lot of those players in that Rangers team and challenge them to go somewhere else in Scotland and get the same cash - they wouldn’t get it.” (Mail)

Goodwin blasts Thomson over rescinded red

ST Mirren captain Jim Goodwin has hit out at Kevin Thomson after winning his appeal against a red card for a tackle on the Hibs midfielder.

Goodwin said: “I thought at the time (referee) Kevin Clancy was going to give me a yellow so I was shocked to see the red. The contact was minimal and the Hibs player’s reaction was over the top.

“I said at the time I didn’t hold the ref responsible.” (Sun)

Rangers fans set for red card protest

RANGERS supporters’ group Sons of Struth have called on fans to join in a protest ‘giving the red card’ to the Ibrox board at tomorrow’s game at Dunfermline.

Sons of Struth founder Craig Houston said: “We have had 30,000 red cards printed off, and we would urge all away supporters to hold them up on the 18th and 72nd minutes.

Struth said: “The protest in essence is about the 120-day business review”, adding “It was a review I could have written myself.” (Sun)

Barry Ferguson: ‘Rangers v Celtic tension worse than ever’

BLACKPOOL manager and former Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson has claimed that tension between Rangers and Celtic is worse than ever - and the lack of games between the two teams is exacerbating the situation.

Ferguson, writing in the Record, said: “I believe the current climate is like nothing I’ve known in all my time. It’s becoming downright evil - and that’s not a word I use lightly. Maybe the fact that the two sides have been separated has made things worse because the game itself can act as a pressure valve.

“I worry about what might happen when the first teams next meet. What are we going to end up with? World War III? All live in HD on Sky Sports?” (Record)

‘Don’t take McGinn to South America’, says McInnes

ABERDEEN manager Derek McInnes has admitted he would rather striker Niall McGinn did not join up with the Northern Ireland squad on their summer tour to South America.

McInnes said: “Niall enjoys playing for his country but selfishness as his club manager means it would be better for me if he managed to get a proper rest.”

Northern Ireland play Uruguay on 30 May, then Chile on 4 June, and are contracted to take at least three-quarters of their first-choice players on tour. (Record)
