Collins for Celtic

Celtic are hoping to install John Collins as their new assistant manager this week. Other shake ups within the backroom staff include promotions for youth coach John Kennedy and chief scout John Park who could become Director of football should such a position be created. (Sunday Post)

Hibs track Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been a shock addition to the shortlist for the vacant Hibs managerial position. The 42-year-old was manager of Royal Antwerp in Belgium but quit in hopes of returning to Britain. It is thought that Hasselbaink would prefer a return to England but is aware of Hibs’ interest and will be interviewed this week. Meanwhile Ian Murray has said that he will place Dumbarton first should Hibs make an approach for him, he said: “People think, a bit disrespectfully to myself and Dumbarton, that I would automatically jump.” (Sunday Express)

McCoist says no to Boyd

Ally McCoist is set to snub the chance to sign Kris Boyd for the third time. Boyd, who would be available for free after leaving Kilmarnock last month, has made it clear he would love to join former strike partner Kenny Miller at Rangers. It now looks however, likely that McCoist will not offer a place in his plans and that Boyd will instead sign for Aberdeen or Dundee United. (Sunday Post)

Southampton tracking Van Dijk

Ronald Koeman is looking to make Celtic’s Virgil van Dijk one of his first signings as Southampton boss. Saints scouts were reported by the Sun to have watched the defender in April when Celtic played Motherwell and now Koeman who is an admirer of Van Dijk is keen on signing him. Koeman, had also urged Louis Van Gaal to include the Celtic defender in his World Cup’s plans saying: “I still see a role for Virgil Van Dijk in this system.”(Sun)

Leeann Dempster warns Petrie she’s in charge not him

Leeann Dempster has outlined her strategy for her tenure as Hibs chief executive and her bid to find the new Hibs manager but she was quick to point out that it was her and not Rod Petrie who would make the final decision. “I’ll be doing the interviews myself, but I’ll maybe be asking another board member to attend. If you’re asking will that board member be Rod Petrie? The answer is no.” She added: “It’s important we hire the right person and I need to take that responsibility on my own.” (Sun)
