Fran Sandaza brands Ally McCoist ‘a coward’

Fran Sandaza branded the former Rangers boss Ally McCoist a ‘total coward’ for failing to back him when he was sacked by Charles Green over a prank call incident. The Spanish striker, now playing for Girona, said: “Ally McCoist told me not to worry but when Charles Green kicked me out, the manager was nowhere to be seen. He was a total coward. I didn’t know he could act like that.” (Sun)

Rangers target Vitor Pereira is set to be sacked by Olympiacos

Rangers managerial target Vitor Pereira is facing the sack from Greek champions Olympiacos.

The Portuguese coach held discussions with the Ibrox club last month, but talks broke down following their failure to win promotion from the Championship.

It’s thought that cracks in the relationship between Pereira and the Olympiacos board were already beginning to form over a disagreement about future funding.

And it now seems as though his interest in the Rangers job could be the final straw, despite leading the Piraeus outfit to a 12-point title-winning margin over rivals Panathinaikos. it remains to be seen whether this will rekindle Rangers’ interest in the Portugese manager. (Daily Mail)

Marley Watkins has signed a two-year deal with Barnsley less than a week after etching his name into Inverness Caledonian Thistle folklore.

John Guidetti claims he had to leave Celtic to help his international career because goals in Scotland aren’t worth as much as in other leagues.

Celtic honoured by UEFA

A SPECIAL event organised by UEFA ahead of this Saturday’s Champions League final between Barcelona and Juventus in Berlin has honoured all previous winners of the competition.

The UEFA Champions League Final Celebration Party in the German capital saw presentations made to Europe’s top teams, including Celtic, for their achievement in winning the continent’s top football prize.

All 22 clubs who have won the trophy since its inauguration began in 1955 were honoured, and Celtic Chief Executive, Peter Lawwell, was the first on stage to receive the special award from UEFA President, Michel Platini, in recognition of Celtic’s 1967 European Cup triumph over Inter Milan in Lisbon.
