The winger’s deal is up at the end of May, and it is thought he will explore his options as a free agent, with speculation ranging from clubs in England, Europe, and even the US.

The 29-year-old has started just three games for Celtic this season, despite being able to count manager Neil Lennon among his admirers.

The Northern Ireland star, nicknamed the ‘Derry Pele’, has only featured for Celtic on 18 occasions this year, and looks unlikely to make the Cup Final squad against Hibs at Hampden this weekend.

McCourt first joined the Hoops in 2008, arriving from Derry City, and quickly became a fan favourite with some superb goals.

But he failed to make the squad for Celtic’s Champions’ League ties against Juventus in February.

With his departure McCourt is thought to be in search of an opportunity to land more regular playing time.
