Norwich tell Celtic to forget about Snodgrass

Celtic have been widely linked to the 26-year-old in recent days as they look to bolster their squad with more creative options, with reports indicating that a failed bid of £4.8 million bid had been submitted to the English Premiership side.

But Norwich City appear to have strengthened their resolve to retain the winger, who is known to be a boyhood Celtic fan, as prepare to face a lengthy battle against relegation.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has already been to see Snodgrass in action personally, and Snodgrass left the door open to a bid from Celtic, saying: “Glasgow is my home town and I stayed five seconds away from the stadium. I’m also a big Celtic fan.

“So when something like this sort of thing happens, there are loads of people texting me saying, ‘What’s going on?’ There’s so much speculation, especially during the transfer window, but I’m here at Norwich and have 18 months left on my contract. I’m focused on doing as well as I possibly can at this minute.”

However, Norwich City manager Chris Hughton moved to quell speculation on Snodgrass’ future: “It’s absolutely news to me. Snodgrass is an important player for us and he was very good in this game against Hull. He’s a team player and he’s a focal point of what we do. So it’s fair to say he is not for sale.”
