Neil Lennon a wanted manager, says Robbie Savage

Football pundit and former Welsh internationalist Robbie Savage has hailed Celtic manager Neil Lennon as “one of the most underrated managers in football” despite the club’s defeat in Milan on Wednesday.

Speaking yesterday at the draw for tomorrow’s William Hill Ayr Gold Cup, Savage warned Celtic fans that their manager is in demand.

“I thought Celtic were great for 82 minutes and I thought they gave a great account of themselves,” said Savage.

“It’s a tough group, but Neil Lennon is one of the most underrated managers in football at the moment. What he has achieved, despite losing Victor Wanyama, Gary Hooper and Kelvin Wilson, the spine of his team really, should make him one of the most sought after managers in the game.”

Savage does not think Celtic will make it to the last 16 of the Champions League but feels that Celtic have nothing to fear. He added: “The key game is Ajax away, if they can get anything there. I don’t think they will beat Barcelona, although they have done it before, I’m just not sure they can replicate that win. Neil Lennon is doing a great job, however.”
