The Celtic manager was furious when new Australian manager Ange Postecoglou and Rogic’s former boss, Graham Arnold, both urged him to allow Rogic to leave on loan.

Rogic hasn’t started a league game since August and was an unused sub in Saturday’s win over Aberdeen.

Now ex-Rangers defender Craig Moore and former West Ham and Southampton player Robbie Slater have joined the debate Down Under.

Moore said: “Regular first-team football is a must for every player. That’s why Tom Rogic needs to leave Celtic during January’s transfer
window if he’s still stuck on the bench.”

Slater, now a TV pundit in Australia, said: “The next six weeks are crucial. If he hasn’t cracked Celtic’s first team by Christmas, he needs to book the first flight out and get to a club prepared to throw him a shirt.

“I didn’t agree with his move to Celtic. They dominate a Scottish league that’s frankly not very good. With the demise of Rangers, they are a shark in a pond of fish fingers.”
