Solskjaer, who managed Molde between January 2011 and January 2014 before taking the reins at Cardiff, has signed a 3½ -year deal to return to the club he played for in the 1995/96 season.

During his previous spell as Molde boss, Solskjaer led the club to two league titles and a cup win.

The ‘baby-faced assassin’ as he was nicknamed during his playing days will take charge of Molde for the Europa League clash against Celtic tomorrow night.

A press conference to unveil Solskjaer as Molde’s new boss will take place later today.

Erling Moe has been in interim charge of the Tippeligaen outfit since August, following the departure of Tor Ole Skullerud.

Solskjaer had been coaching the youth team at former club Clausenegen, based in Kristiansund.
