Celtic hero Henrik Larsson could be set for Blackburn, spotlight on Craig Levein over Fletcher and Commons and SFA to hold peace talks with Rangers.

Larsson in frame for Blackburn job

Former Celtic striker Henrik Larsson is a shock candidate for the Blackburn Rovers job after Steve Kean left the club last Friday.

Larsson has impressed during his spell with Swedish second division side Landskrona but has informed the club’s owners that he will not be renewing his contract at the end of the season.

It has been reported that Larsson is looking for a management role in England. (Mail)

Spartak’s McGeady says feelings for Celtic will be put on hold

Former Celtic winger Aiden McGeady say he will feel “strange” playing against Celtic but says that he is fully focused on doing a professional job for current club Spartak Moscow.

McGeady left Parkhead for the Russian side in 2010 in a deal worth £9.5m. (Scotsman)

Aberdeen boss blasts Hibs defender

Craig Brown has slammed Hibs defender Alan Maybury for his tackle on Ryan Fraser adding that he should have been red carded.

Maybury was substituted at half time by Hibs boss Pat Fenlon. (Express)

Ogilvie to seek Green talks

SFA president Campbell Ogilvie says he will seek talks with Rangers chief executive Charles Green in a bid to repair the relationship between the governing body and the Ibrox club.

Green is due in front of an SFA disciplinary committee on Thursday for questioning the integrity of the SPL’s independent commission into dual contracts at Ibrox. (Scotsman)

SFA say they will not intervene in Levein/ Fletcher dispute

SFA president Campbell Ogilvie says the governing body has no intention in mediating in the dispute between Scotland manager Craig Levein and in-form Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher.

The 25-year-old has scored five goals in only four first Premiership appearances this year but has not featured for the national side since refusing to play a friendly against Northern Ireland in February 2011.

Fletcher says the “ice will have to be broken” before he can return. (Scotsman)

Lennon urges Scotland recall for Commons

Celtic boss Neil Lennon says midfielder Kris Commons is playing too well to be overlooked for Scotland boss Craig Levein’s squad, which is set to be announced later today.

Levein will name his squad to take on Wales and Belgium in the World Cup qualifiers for Brazil however Commons has been snubbed in recent squad selections with Levein citing “loyalty” to other players as a significant factor in his team choice. (Record)

Final tax bill of oldco Rangers tops £95m

Administrators Duff and Phelps have released a report which lists the total tax liability of the soon-to-be-liquidated Rangers FC as £95m.

The total includes £18m from Craig Whyte’s failure to pay tax and PAYE during his short-lived time at the club with over £75m set aside as liability for the ‘Big Tax Case’ of which the outcome is due this month. (Scotsman)

Celtic manager in “bizarre” Spartak press conference

A FIFA delegate had to step in to end Celtic’s pre-match press conference early after it descended into farce.

Neil Lennon, who was briefing Russian journalists ahead of his side’s match against Spartak Moscow, was given a host of bewildering questions.

The Celtic manager was asked if he had 100 million euro to spend would he help Rangers and if he would seek help from Sean Connery should the Parkhead club run into financial difficulties. (Scotsman)
