Tales from the Tabs: Celtic eye Charlton defender Michael Morrison

THE Daily Express claim Celtic manager Neil Lennon is weighing up a £500,000 January move for Charlton central defender Michael Morrison.

Lennon was at The Valley to see Morrison help the Addicks to a clean sheet in their win over Huddersfield on Monday night. The same article also states that Scotland striker Jordan Rhodes, who played for Huddersfield in that game, is not one of Lennon’s top targets.

Meanwhile former Ireland manager Brian Kerr told The Sun that Scottish clubs are right to look to Irish managers. He said: “In recent years plenty of Scottish players and managers have moved over to Ireland, so why shouldn’t it work the other way? You’ve had Lithuanian, French and Portuguese managers in the SPL. That’s just the way it is now. Players used to be the ones who were prepared to travel anywhere. Now managers are the same. So why shouldn’t chairman in Scotland look towards Ireland?

“It’s not as if there is a huge argument to back up choosing a Scots boss over an Irish one now. Apart from Celtic and Rangers – and even they have struggled – your teams have performed poorly in Europe. In contrast a number of Irish teams, including part-time ones, have done well.”
