Spartak Moscow keeper out of Champions League clash against Celtic

CELTIC have been handed a boost ahead of their Champions League encounter with Spartak Moscow following the news that the Russian’s first choice keeper has been ruled out through injury.

Ukraine international Andriy Dykan’s shoulder injury flared up again during his side’s 3 - 1 win against RF Amkar Perm at the weekend.

Subsequent medical tests have revealed that Dykan is suffering from a damaged shoulder joint and will be out for a month.

The 35-year-old was replaced at half time by back-up keeper Sergei Pesyakov who is expected to face Celtic in tomorrow night’s Champions League group stage match in Moscow.

A club statement read: “Dykan had a medical examination which revealed damage to a shoulder joint.

“He’ll be out of action for a month.”

Spartak already have key players ruled out through injury as they prepare to take on Celtic at the Luzhniki Stadium.

Brazilian midfielder Romulo is out for eight months after suffering a torn cruciate ligament.

Spanish star Jose Manuek Hurado and club captain Sergei Parshivlyuk are also out.

Celtic drew their opening Champions League match 0 - 0 with Benfica while Spartak Moscow went down 3 - 2 to Barcelona in the Nou Camp.
