McCoist weighs up appearance at AGM

Ally McCoist has yet to decide if he will attend Rangers’ annual general meeting tomorrow at Ibrox as his one-year notice period kicks in.

According to the Scottish Sun on Sunday, he is attending talks today with the Rangers board to see if he is required to be there. Following Saturday’s victory over Livingston, McCoist said: “I’m not sure I am required to go. I don’t know what the legalities of it are. If anyone wants me there, I will be there.” (Sun on Sunday)

If he does attend, fans have pledged to shield him from any flak expected at the meeting tomorrow. Spokesman of the Union of Fans, Chris Graham said: “We will react badly if the board get stuck into Ally. He has held the club together and done nothing wrong.” (Sunday Mail)

Ally McCoist has warned the directors at Ibrox that their entire team could be on the brink. 13 players will be out of a contract at the end of the season and all of them are entitled to speak to other clubs from New Year’s Day. (Sun on Sunday)

Van Dijk assured of Celtic future

Celtic gaffer Ronny Deila has insisted defender Virgil van Dijk is going nowhere in next month’s tranfer window as Arsenal reportedly leads the charge to tempt the Dutchman away from Celtic Park. Deila added that he has an agreement with the 23-year old to stay with the Hoops for now. (Sun on Sunday)

Celtic’s Stokes shapes up his game

Striker Anthony Stokes has been practising with his left foot until it’s sore to make himself indispensable at Celtic Park. He wants to make himself the ultimate forward with less of niche skill set. (Sunday Mail)

The Irishmanhas also admitted that Celtic players have a long way to go to shape up to boss Deila’s demands. According to Stokes, it is not enough that the team scrape through matches and that the manager wants all opposition crushed. (Sun on Sunday)

Armstrong swoop on the cards for January

Deila has set the rumour mill turning with his praise of Dundee United’s Stuart Armstrong comparing him to Germany’s Thomas Muller. It has emerged the Hoops are weighing up a bid for the midfielder in January’s transfer window. (Sunday Mail)

Fletcher vital to Euro 2016 success

Darren Fletcher is key to Scotland’s Euro 2016 according to the national team’s number two, Mark McGhee. The Manchester United midfielder has been left on the bench by manager Gordon Strachan after his recent battle with a career-threatening illness. McGhee has backed Fletcher to make his mark in the second half of the Euro 2016 campaign. (Sun on Sunday)
