Celtic to face Inter Milan in pre-season friendly

CELTIC have confirmed they will take on Inter Milan in a pre-season friendly as part of their 125th anniversary celebrations on July 28.

The Celtic Park friendly will see the SPL champions play the club they famously beat in the 1967 European Cup final, becoming the first British side to lift the trophy in the process.

Members from the triumphant team, dubbed the ‘Lisbon Lions’, will be in attendance and current Celtic boss Neil Lennon hailed the arrangement as ‘magnificent’ for the club.

“History is something to respect and to cherish and we are delighted therefore to be celebrating 125 years of Celtic in such a manner,” he told the club’s website.

“The match will be a magnificent event where we welcome some top players to Glasgow and, of course, honour those who have played such an important role in Celtic’s past.

“It is magnificent that Celtic is able to bring such a big name to Scottish football and I am sure this will be an occasion which our supporters, across many generations, will wish to experience.”
