John Guidetti ‘happy’ at trophy-chasing Celtic

JOHN Guidetti has claimed he is “happy” at Celtic as the guessing game about his future continues.

The on-loan Manchester City striker, who limped off during the 1-0 defeat from PSV Eindhoven in Gran Canaria at the weekend, hasn’t scored in his past six competitive games. However, he became a fans’ favourite by collecting 11 goals before he hit his current dry spell.

The 22-year-old frontman is out of contract at the end of the season and has attracted attention with his earlier form at Celtic.

However, he has dismissed speculation and is concentrating on playing a key role in Ronny Deila’s side for next month’s Europa League ties against Inter Milan after being ineligible for the qualifying campaign.

Guidetti told a Dutch football magazine that he had no regrets about turning his back on former club Feyenoord last season.

The marksman hit 20 goals in 23 league appearances for the Rotterdam giants, but he said: “I am only looking forward and not back. I am playing for a great club with great supporters.

“We are in the running for four trophies. I am happy at Celtic.”

Meanwhile, Celtic reject Amido Balde has joined Hapoel Tel Aviv on loan after a dismal spell in Belgium ended.

The £1.8 million Guinea-Bissau international striker was shipped out on loan to Waasland-Beveren in August after failing to impress Deila at Celtic Park.

Balde’s opening season in Glasgow after arriving from Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimaraes was woeful after just three league goals in 20 appearances, although 17 of them were from the bench.

He fared little better in Belgium, managing just one goal in his 14 appearances for Waasland-Beveren.

Now he’s off again to Israel to join Hapoel Tel Aviv, who are currently struggling in ninth place in the Israeli League.

Former Celtic star Eyal Berkovic is the general manager of the club, but Asi Domb is the team manager.

Domb said: “We are delighted to welcome Amido to the club. We believe he has all the attributes to be an important player for us in the latter part of the season.”
