Joey Barton has branded Celtic fans ‘obsessed’ on social media, just minutes after pretending not to have heard of Scott Brown.
The former Rangers midfielder, who has previously claimed on Twitter to be a Celtic fan, said last night: “Just going on record to say Celtic fans are obsessed with me on here.
“Leave me alone. I don’t care about you or your club. Go away.”
Barton regularly interacts with users on Twitter, and answered numerous questions on the social media site on Sunday night, after appearing on talkSPORT earlier in the day.
As well as claiming he has ‘about ten more years’ left in him as a player, Barton also claimed not to know who Scott Brown was, despite facing the midfielder in an Old Firm game during his time at Rangers.
Barton also told one fan that he ‘wished had had more of a chance at Rangers’ and said he didn’t believe Burnley boss Sean Dyche would be interested in succeeding Pedro Caixinha at Ibrox.
The midfielder, who was banned from football in April for 18 months - reduced by nearly five on appeal - also gave his thoughts on Alan Pardew for the Rangers job, saying: “Could do a lot worse. Good manager. Would he take it though?”
