I would come back to Celtic, says Neil Lennon

NEIL Lennon has refused to shut the door on a sensational return to Celtic Park - despite quitting the club last summer.

The Bolton manager has been continuing to build his reputation as a manager in England, and yesterday guided his Championship side to a creditable 0-0 draw against Liverpool.

When asked whether the prospect of a return to Celtic would be appealing, Lennon told the Scottish edition of the Sun on Sunday he would not hesitate to return - as long as the opportunity was right.

“There’s no question I would go back to Celtic,” said Lennon. “I’m not saying it will ever happen, but if the opportunity came along and I was ready for it, I wouldn’t have any hesitation.

“There is always a huge part of me that will always have an affinity with Celtic. It was tumultuous, it was exciting, it was breathtaking at times, it was everything you wanted it to be. There were feelings you will probably never replicate again in your life.

Lennon also said he felt “fortunate” to have managed Celtic when they faced off against Old Firm rivals Rangers - but he admitted that he was seldom able to enjoy the occasion.

He said: “Do you enjoy them? As a manager, no.”

He added: “This next one coming up is going to be the biggest one because it’s the first one in three years and it will mean so much to both sets of fans.

“It may not be the classic Celtic v Rangers games we are used to, with the quality on the pitch, but in terms of the significance of the game, it’s fascinating.”
