Former Celtic and Dundee United full-back Mark Wilson sacked as manager of Brechin City

Mark Wilson has been relieved of his duties as manager of Brechin City, the Angus club have announced.

Brechin have lost all five matches in the Betfred Cup and league so far this season, conceding at least three goals in each game, and have taken the decision to part with their management team.

Joining Wilson in heading through the exit door is assistant manager Simon Donnelly.

A short statement on the club website read: “Brechin City announce that manager Mark Wilson and assistant manager Simon Donnelly have been released from their contracts and have left the club with immediate effect.“The club would like to thank Mark and Simon for their service and will now commence the search for a new management team.”

The former Dundee United and Celtic defender took over the struggling Scottish League Two club in September last year after a poor start to the campaign under former boss Barry Smith.
