Easy win for Elfsborg

ELFSBORG secured a Champions League third qualifying round tie with Celtic by dint of a 4-0 win over Latvians Daugava last night, completing an 11-1 aggregate victory.

The second leg in the southern Latvian city of Daugavpils was a formality following the Swedes’ 7-1 first-leg success last week. However, a professional performance by the Elfsborg players saw them record another comfortable win.

James Keene opened the scoring shortly before half-time, and after the interval further goals by Viktor Claesson and Niklas Hult were supplemented by a late penalty by the substitute Martin Andersson.

Mohamed Bangura, the striker on loan from Celtic to Elfsborg, was an unused substitute during the match.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has made it clear he does not want Bangura playing against his parent club in the third qualifying round.
