Craig Gordon to make commentary debut on Celtic TV

CRAIG Gordon, who finally returned to football this season following two years out injured, is preparing himself for a fresh challenge today.

The Celtic goakeeper, who has established himself as first choice in the wake of Fraser Forster’s transfer to Southampton, will swap the goalmouth for the press gantry when Ronny Deila’s side play PSV Eindhoven in Gran Canaria this afternoon.

Gordon will make his debut as a commentator on Celtic TV for the match against the Dutch in the Maspalomas Cup during the Scottish champions’ winter break.

Deila has opted to rest some of his more senior players and the one-time Scotland No 1 said: “I’’m looking forward to it.

“I’ve done some media work in the past, but never for Celtic TV, so it’ll be quite strange to commentate as my team-mates are playing.

“The past 12 months have been pretty unbelievable for me since I signed for Celtic.

“I’ve spoken to a number of the fans since I joined the club and I’m really looking forward to talking to them directly through Celtic TV on matchday.”

In the international competition, Celtic will take on the Eredivisie leaders before facing Czech champions Sparta Prague on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, former Celtic loan striker Jo Inge Berget could be set for a shock move to Norwegian Second Division minnows HBK Honefoss.

The 24-year-old was sent back to Cardiff City after making next to no impact at Parkhead following his loan move.

He netted just twice – both in the same game against Dundee United – and hardly featured latterly under Deila.

Now he is back in his Norwegian homeland and training with Honefoss.

Berget said: “We’ll see what happens here.

“We are in discussions and it’s good to keep myself in shape.”

HBK’s sporting director Rolf Magne Walstad said: “I would be delighted to bring him to the club.”

Cardiff would seem unlikely to stand in the way of the international striker leaving after enduring an unsuccessful time in the UK.
