Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths wins player of the month award

LEIGH Griffiths has won the Labdbrokes Scottish Premiership player of the month award for August after scoring four goals in that period for his side.

The 25-year-old Scotland striker has scored nine goals so far this season, and scored 20 in total last season after arriving at Celtic in January last year.

The former Hibernian and Wolves striker may be punished for remarks pertaining to referee Craig Thomson alleging bias following Celtic’s 2-1 loss to Aberdeen on Saturday.
