Celtic face tricky test in Champions League qualifier if they beat KR Reykjavik

If Celtic defeat KR Reykjavik in the first round of Champions League qualifying they will face either Ferencvaros or Djurgardens in the next round.

The Hungarian and Swedish champions present tricky opposition but Neil Lennon’s men have been boosted with a home draw having come out of the hat first.

Notably Celtic have said the venue for both the first and second round qualifiers is still to be decided.

There is a chance that games could be played at a neutral venue, Uefa designating Greece, Cyprus, Hungary and Poland as possible locations.

Celtic’s clash with KR Reykjavik, who are currently second in the Icelandic league which is back up and running, on either 18 or 19 August.

Win that and they will face Ferencvaros or Djurgardens a week later.

Both games will be played over one rather than two legs. It will revert back to a double header in the play-off round.
