Celtic eye West Ham starlet

Celtic have been linked with a move for highly-rated West Ham youngster Veron Parkes, after the 18-year-old forward turned down a new deal with the Hammers. However, Celtic may face competition from a host of clubs including Monaco and Heerenveen in the race for the striker, who is understood to be looking for a move that will give him a quicker pathway to first-team action. Rangers are one of a handful of clubs monitoring Metz defender Mamadou Fofana, according to reports. The centre-back is also a rumoured target for several clubs in Russia including Dynamo Moscow, with the player’s agent confirming interest from Ibrox. However, despite arriving in Brittany from Turkish side Antalyaspor for just £400,000 the Mali international could now cost interested clubs up to £2.5 million. (The Sun)

Hearts fans have been rallying, ready to provide financial backing should owner Ann Budge decide to take legal action in a bid to stave off relegation following the decision to call the Premiership. One fans’ group said “serious money” would be pledged and that other clubs were prepared to back the Tynecastle side. (The Scotsman)

Celtic and Rangers have both been linked with a move for former West Brom and Stoke City striker Saido Berahino – if Odsonne Edouard and Alfredo Morelos depart Celtic Park and Ibrox respectively this summer. Lennon in Rangers claim

Neil Lennon has insisted Celtic were never going to be caught by Rangers at the top of the Premiership if the 2019-20 season had been played to a finish on the pitch. The Hoops boss said: “I can’t stop people from trying to put a negative spin on what we were achieving. But no-one could keep up with us. We just kept applying the pressure week in, week out and eventually all the other teams around us faded away. When our lead started going into double figures, I felt there was no way we were going to relinquish it then.” (The Scotsman)

Hibs to reward supporters

Hibs have asked short-changed fans to consider waiving refunds with a promise of making it up to them once football resumes in a statement reflecting on the decision to conclude the Premiership season. The club has said it will reimburse any supporters who wish to pursue refunds, however, those who allow the club to keep the money will be rewarded with “unique” fan experiences in the coming months.
