CELTIC could try and tempt Dundee United striker Nadir Ciftci to Glasgow in January as Ronny Deila looks to bolster his strikeforce.

The Turkish striker has put in some fine performances for Jackie McNamara’s men this season, including a fine goal against Celtic earlier this month.

Ciftci was reportedly watched by a Celtic scout during Saturday’s loss to St Johnstone, according to The Courier.

Still just 22, Ciftci - who played youth football for the Netherlands before switching his allegiance - has played for NAC Breda, Portsmouth and Kayserispor.

Capable of playing in an attacking midfield role as well as up front, Ciftci is under contract at Tannadice until May 2016, with United currently sitting five points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic have also had Everton’s Portuguese midfielder Junior on trial in recent weeks.
